My home is 18 years old. I live in a coastal area; I don\’t have trees close to the house; and the salt air deteriorates everything. The roof inspector told me that my shingles–Tamko 25-year \"dimensional\" shingles- are losing granule; some sections have algae/moss; and some are disintegrating; and there are nails exposed in some areas. Do I replace the entire roof? I am concerned about a \"patch job\". Also, I am female and 70; and I need to be educated before I sign a contract. The company I will be dealing with has a good reputation. They have recommended GAF Timberline shingles. There are different qualities of Timberline; and I am not sure which would be best for my home. Do I need shingles treated to prevent algae? Do I need the Ultra Timberline? When they remove the old shingles, should I have them install GAF DeckArmor (I have been reading but don\’t know what to do)? I have ridge vents, single story with different roof lines. I appreciate your help!!
